Family Support Coordinator

Berkshire Children and Families, a dynamic child and family service agency in Western Massachusetts seeks a 4/5-full time Family Support Coordinator to join our collaborative community based team.

This is an exciting position that provides trauma-informed, foster and adoption competent family support services as part of a team at the Treehouse Community (Treehouse) in Easthampton, MA. Established in 2006, Treehouse is a model intergenerational community supporting permanency for children who have experienced foster care.

Qualifications: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively within a dynamic and diverse community; investment in a partnership and teaming approach with families and supportive seniors; expertise and substantial knowledge in human development, trauma and loss, as well as pre and post adoption issues; ability to apply knowledge within a unique community context; good engagement skills and a strength based perspective; flexibility and ability to work effectively in a non-structured, fluid environment. Supervisory and group experience a plus. Some evenings and weekends necessary. Masters degree in Human Services related field or 5 years post-graduate experience in informed child welfare related practice. Adoptive parent(s) encouraged to apply.

Family Partner

Berkshire Children and Families, with locations in Pittsfield and Hadley, seeks a family partner to provide one-on-one support to parents or caregivers of youth who have mental health needs. The Family Partner will work collaboratively with the family, community, school and other providers as part of a team. The Family Partner will engage parents and other team members in activities designed to meet goals on the youth's treatment plan. The objective is to partner with families for the best adjustment of the child in the home and community.

Experience required: Experience as a caregiver of a youth with special needs. Strong preference for those who are or have been caregivers of youth with mental health needs. (Experience as a foster parent or adoptive parent desirable.)
Experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems.

Family Support and Training

(Full or part-time)

Berkshire Children and Families seeks a family partner to provide one-on-one support to parents or caregivers of youth who have mental health needs. The Family Partner will work collaboratively with the family and other agencies as part of a larger team. The Family Partner will engage parents in activities that are designed to meet the goals on the youth's treatment plan. The objective is to assist parents in learning how to resolve their child's emotional and behavioral needs by improving the capacity of the parent/caregiver to parent the child so as to improve the child's functioning in the home or community.

Qualification requirements:

Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited university and one (1) year of experience working with the target population; or an Associate's degree in a human service field from an accredited school and one (1) year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth; or a High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.

Experience Required: Experience as a caregiver of a youth with special needs, and preferably a youth with mental health needs. (Experience as a foster parent or adoptive parent desirable.)
Experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems.
