Parenting and Family Literacy Programs

Berkshire Children and Families provides a wide range of parenting and family literacy programs in Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin counties.

Redfield House Services for Young Parents

Established in Pittsfield in 1991, Redfield House and its associated outreach programs provide single parents (teens to age 25) the chance to obtain the parenting skills they need to nurture their children, together with education and life skills to live independently. Redfield House is the only residential supportive living program for young parents in Berkshire County.

Pittsfield Family Literacy Program

This intensive family program – one of the state's four model "Pathways to Success" programs – integrates adult basic education, parenting and early childhood education, family advocacy and counseling so that parents can become self-sufficient and their children can be successful in school.

McInerney Parenting Services Program

The McInerney Parenting Services program provides parent education and support groups in many locations throughout Berkshire County to strengthen parenting skills and create peer support among families.

Community Centered Family Support Program

This program provides in-home support to families in Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin counties. The program focuses on improving home environments, as well as helping parents to access community support and improve communication with their children's schools.

Parent Aide Volunteer Effort (PAVE)

The PAVE program pairs trained volunteers with Hampshire County families in order to provide one-to-one, relationship-based home visiting support. PAVE volunteers commit to approximately one year of service to one family.

Children's Behavioral Health Initiative Family Partners

The CBHI Family Partners program provides one-on-one support to parents or caregivers of a child with mental health needs. The family partners work collaboratively with families and members of the community, school and other service providers to achieve the best adjustment for the child in the home and community. BCF collaborates with The Brien Center of Pittsfield, MA, a leading provider of mental health and substance abuse services in Berkshire County, to deliver Family Partner support.
